(3.64) The 12 Articles of the Profession of Faith (Articles 10 to 12)

Article 10: the forgiveness of sins,

I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

The importance of Baptism for the forgiveness of sins was proclaimed by John the Baptist when he “appeared in the desert proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins” (Mk 1:4).

We all therefore get baptized as commanded by Christ,

“in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit” (Mt 28:19).

On St Peter’s assertion in Acts 2:38,

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit.”

Article 11: the resurrection of the body,

And I look forward to the resurrection of the dead

We have heard the fearless and extraordinary work of Christ’s followers through the mystery that Christ has shown. We know that the death of our human body is the beginning of the life of our body and soul, either in heaven or in disgrace. As mentioned in the Old Testament, “Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; some to everlasting life, others to reproach and everlasting disgrace” (Dan 12:2).

Article 12: And in life everlasting.

And the life of the world to come. Amen.

Just as Christ continues to live among us and expresses himself in different mysterious ways, we also believe in the life that lasts forever in world to come.

Cor 15:35-58 explained that our body will change in death from being earthly body to heavenly body; from weak to powerful; from mortality to clothe of immortality – when the trumpet sound “the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
