Module 2: The Introductory Rites
"The Introductory Rites help the faithful come together as one, establish communion and prepare themselves to listen to the Word of God and to celebrate the Eucharist worthily" (GIRM).
The mass starts with the gathering of the people who come from all facets of life; the rich and the poor, the saints and the sinners, the educated and uneducated. It is an opportunity for everyone to come together in a show of unity to answer Christ’s invitation.
When we stand, sit, pray or sing – we are mindful as always that we do this in harmony with each other to praise God and his marvellous works. To live in peace and unity with our brothers is the desire of God as St. Paul had written to the Corinthians;
"Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in agreement and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same purpose" (1 Cor 1:10).
