(2.31) Greeting (Option A)

The Priest says:

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Origin and Meaning

St. Paul founded several churches including the Church in Corinth. While he was away and spreading Christianity, he heard news of disagreement among Corinthians; including immorality and even people questioning his authority.

He therefore wrote letters to the Corinthians and addressed several issues. On his final greeting, he appealed for peaceful coexistence among Christians as he said,“Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you" (2 Cor 13:11-13).
